Six O’Clock appoints respected industry leader as non-executive Chair

Six O’Clock has appointed Kym Pfitzner as Chairman, with the 25-year media and marketing veteran to take up the non-executive post from 14 January 2019.

Mr Pfitzner joins Six O’Clock as a highly-regarded adviser and director who has held senior leadership roles including CEO, COO and CFO in Asia Pacific, China and Australia for global media and advertising entities, most recently the Dentsu Aegis Network (DAN).

From 2003-2010, Mr Pfitzner was the Regional CFO of Aegis Media Asia Pacific, the forerunner to DAN, leading transformational change and growth for the 2500-person entity in the China market. He was the Asia Pacific CEO of global outdoor advertising agency, Posterscope, from 2007-2009 and headed DAN’s M&A team across Asia Pacific from 2003-2015.

Six O’Clock director and CEO Siobhan Koopmans said the firm was thrilled to have attracted Mr Pfitzner to the role of Chairman.

“Approaching three years in business in the Australian market, and having enjoyed a sustained period of growth, the appointment of an experienced and credentialled non-executive chair is a natural evolution of the business as we look to take things to the next level,” Mrs Koopmans said.

“After a wide search, Jim (Stiliadis), Patrick (O’Beirne) and I found ourselves gravitating towards someone we’d crossed paths with before. Kym shares similar personal and professional values and is a highly-respected, clear-thinking and connected industry leader.”

Mr Pfitzner said he was excited to join Six O’Clock and help the firm navigate its next period of growth.

“I’ve been following Six O’Clock’s success over recent years and it’s a tremendous opportunity to be coming into a firm that is very much on the rise,” Mr Pfitzner said.

“Siobhan, Jim and Pat are specialists in their field and they’ve assembled an impressive team which is working with a range of top-tier clients across the private and public sectors.

“I’m looking forward to bringing my experience and leadership to the table to drive even more opportunity for the firm, taking into account the ever-changing media-communication landscape and inevitable technology advancements.”

Mrs Koopmans said Mr Pfitzner’s arrival marked an exciting period for the firm.

“We’ve welcomed a number of new starters, relocated to new Melbourne headquarters and attracted a raft of key clients. Kym’s arrival will ensure we take this momentum into the new year.”

A graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (2018), Mr Pfitzner has significant corporate governance experience including with a listed company in Hong Kong and numerous other entities including four digital marketing companies in China from 2012 to 2014.

Before DAN, Mr Pfitzner held various senior agency and in-house leadership roles. He began his career as a chartered accountant at Hall Chadwick, where he became a Partner between 1986-1993.

He has a Post Graduate Specialist Certificate in Executive Leadership (Melbourne Business School 2016) and is studying Masters Degrees in Contemporary Leadership and Business Administration (Deakin University) respectively. Mr Pfitzner holds board and advisory positions with various digital marketing and media agencies.
